Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Google I/O Edition

Samsung will officially launch the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on June 6. A couple of weeks back we were one of the lucky 5,000 to receive the Google I/O version of the tablet and put it through its paces. The version to be released next week will sport a slight design change, eschewing the bathroom wallpaper-looking backside, replacing it with a more uniform chassis, like the iPad 2.

In fact, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 bears more than a passing resemblance to the iPad 2 with a profile that's just as thin and an even lighter weight. The real test for me however is a personal one. I've gotten really used to the way I can spin the iPad 2, rotating it 90 degrees in one hand.
That light weight and thinness is one of the conveniences of using a tablet, that not all tablets can match. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the first Honeycomb tablet I feel comfortable doing that with.

Speaking of Honeycomb, the official Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also come with Honeycomb 3.1 natively loaded. Check out my impressions of the OS upgrade here.
Also, once we get the official version of the Tab 10.1 in, I'll be updating the review, so keep an eye out for it.
